You can see the updated Fireplace Mantels here!
My goal this weekend is to remove copious amounts of wallpaper and decorate the fireplace mantels for fall. Help!We have two fireplaces. This is the one in the main living room:
I currently have a mix of white and bluish greens on there but want to fall it up a bit. Sorry for the washed out pics. Still in the photography learning curve.
I don’t want to do much orange on this one so am going for more muted fall colors. I’ve thought about doing a Halloween themed one just for fun. Still undecided on that though. Decisions, decisions.
This is the one in the downstairs sitting area:
I have never really decorated this one as is evidenced by the lack of decor. The brick throws me off making it kind of difficult. You can’t use darker items or they just blend in with the brick. The same goes for clear glass items. And that lovely blue carpet makes it all look better, ugh. I’ve scoured the internet for inspiration but still have no idea what I’m going to do with this one. And, the monkey has to stay.
Since I don’t want to spend any money on the redo I will be shopping other areas of the house and my stash . . . sshhh . . . it’s messy! Surprised? I really want to be the super organized, everything in it’s place homemaker but there just never seems to be enough time to get it all done. At least it’s clean, mostly.
Of course, I have a Mantel inspiration board on Pinterest. I just don’t have the ability to visualize it and then do it. I have to put it up there, move it around, ask for opinions, second guess myself and then just live with the results. Takes forever. One day maybe my decorating gene will kick in.
I will post updated pictures when I am done. And just in case you were wondering, here’s the wallpaper progress:
One wall done the other almost. Getting there slowly but surely. Wallpaper updates will be posted on Facebook as we progress. And then the lovely blue carpet will go away! Can’t wait!
Where do you find your inspiration for your fireplace mantels?
