Today, I thought I’d share a guest room update.
You may recall it looked like this before:
You can see all of the before pics here.
Maddy and I removed all of the doors and I finally got that ceiling scraped!
That was one messy job and I’m so glad it’s done! I took my time so I will only need to go back and spackle a couple of places. The tape edges are iffy in some places so they’ll get a little attention. Also, the contractor never covered some of the nails so I’m going to go ahead and spackle those as well.
Speaking of messes, if there was an award for messiest DIYer I would at least get a strong nomination if not win it outright. Check out the upstairs hall.
And from the other end.
There is nowhere to take any of this unless we take it all downstairs to the garage. Who wants to lug all of this down the stairs and then lug it all back up again? Not this lady. So it sits in the hall.
Let’s see….that’s a mattress and box spring, the large painting that is the inspiration for this room, the closet doors, the bedroom door, a chest of drawers (kind of crammed into the hall closet), wire shelving from the closet, the window blinds, a shopvac, the kitty litter box (sorry kitty), the ceiling fan that we took down, a shoe organizer, a random basket of laundry and a couple of random suitcases.
The cat likes to nap on top of the mattress so at least she’s not too traumatized.
Thankfully, the only thing you would need to go down to that end of the house for is to get to the bedroom or the thermostat. The access to the A/C unit is down there as well so as long as we don’t have a sudden A/C outage I think we’re safe for now.
Next up is removing the wallpaper and finish any patching and sanding. Then we’ll be ready for paint.
And just in case you think the mess isn’t too bad…this is the view from the front door.
At least the painting is front and center. If you ignore the door.
Stay tuned for another update once we get the wallpaper down. I’ll also be working on the furniture pieces and will share as we get them done. You can follow along on Instagram or Facebook. I usually post guest room update pictures as we’re going along.
