Hi there! It’s Debra today. We haven’t done a thrifty find post in a while so I thought I would update you on one of my favorite recent finds.
You may remember that I have this odd addiction to vintage bar ware. (If not, you can read about it here.) But, no bar. Also, no idea what kind of bar I might want. I love the mid-century modern bars but they don’t really go with our decor. So, while out and about I’ve kept my eyes peeled for a cabinet or something we could convert into a bar. Just because we don’t have enough projects going on right now. (insert eye roll here)
And this is what I found:
Isn’t it cute? Vintage but not overly mid-century modern. And best of all . . .
Someone else had the same idea as me. Yay! I am not sure if this was originally a bar, record player cabinet or something else but it has been modified.
The handles may be original but they’ve been relocated. There are some holes in the top of the doors and along the inside of the cabinet which make me believe it had another shelf in it at one time. The wine bottle/glasses shelf that is there appears to have been added. And there are some holes cut into the back of it that don’t look original but they’ve been there a very long time. You can see them here and there’s one more behind the large wood piece on the back of the shelf.
Overall, I am pleased with it. It needs a little cleaning and has some dents, dings and scratches but those are easy fixes. I will probably change the handles and may replace the piece of metal with an actual mirror. We shall see.
Sadie gives it her stamp of approval.
So what do you think of my little vintage bar?
