Every room should start with inspiration. This is my Library inspiration for my small front room.
We have a small room at the front of the house that we believe was originally intended as a formal dining room. It measures about 10×12 so will not accommodate a family of six at a table. I plan to re-purpose it as a library/sitting area.
I am on the look out for goodies at thrift stores and antique stores to get things started and will post pics as we progress.
It’s all about the details:
The chandelier is wonderful. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for some closeouts or maybe an old upcycle/repurpose project.
The barrel table is wonderful and may be easy to recreate. Have to put our thinking caps on.
The chairs will be a bit more difficult to duplicate on a budget.
The artwork is gorgeous. Raechel will have to work on those.
The candelabra is beautiful. Maybe a wedding rental type place that is updating or changing their inventory.
The wall unit would not be too difficult to make. Or maybe just lots of library shelving in a dark stain? Finding the time to make it may be more difficult.
The rug appears to be a bold black and white print. Maybe zebra print? Or a great geometric pattern like this one.
The floors are a dark stained hardwood. We plan to redo the floors throughout the main and lower level of the house so these should be completely doable.
I don’t think the transom window will be doable. Maybe some old stained glass hung as artwork above the doorway would give the same feel.
And finally, I’m not sure if we will be adding doors. We will have to wait and see.
Let me know what you think. Any ideas for duplicating the artwork?
