This post may cost me my blogging privileges, but I’ve never done a post on place settings. As a matter of a fact, I’ve never really set a table with proper place settings. Gasp! Incredible, I know. Nothing more than a simple Christmas centerpiece has graced our table.
I really don’t have anything against setting the table, I’ve just never had an event that required me to use actual place settings. Friend and family gatherings are rather informal around here.
I do love looking at the beautiful pictures. Like this blue and white setting from Pinterest.
Isn’t that gorgeous? Yummy! Great if you want to use a particular color combination for a themed event.
And this Purple and Gold one from Sofiaz Choice tumblr.
Very regal, don’t you think?
Both of those are rather formal. If you prefer a bit simpler version this one from the Pottery Barn blog is simple. It uses clear and white glass with burlap and an olive branch. Very classy without being overstated….with a bit of country thrown in. You could mix in inexpensive glass pieces from the dollar store to fill in the gaps.
Here’s another using the white and clear glass with a wooden plate as a charger. A bit more rustic.
You can also use thrift store china or mismatched family pieces to create some great settings. Like this one from The Sweetest Occassion.
Or this one from Something Vintage.
A great way to use grandma’s pieces.
We have a lovely cabinet full of lovely vintage dishes. I may just have to play around and create some lovely place settings. And then come up with a reason to use them. Brunch anyone?
