For Mother’s Day I bought myself a thrift store coffee table. Solid wood. And $25! Can’t beat that.
I had been searching for a round table with a shelf underneath but was not willing to pay the $200+ I had seen them for at the furniture stores. Knowing that if I waited long enough I would find one cheaper I bid my time til this little beauty came along.
It was a bit dirty and had some wear and tear but I saw the potential. And for $25 I just couldn’t pass it up. So out came the cleaning rags and elbow grease. We removed the glass top (it was filthy underneath and chipped along the edges). Then I used the Old English Oil on it. I love that stuff. This is how it turned out:
I plan to strip and re-stain it eventually, but for now it will do as is. The cat loves to dust the lower shelf for us.
Here it is with a bit of fall decor on it.
And here it is surrounded by tons of Christmas stuff . . . it definitely gets used a lot.
We have several other pieces needing full makeovers that we will be posting soon so this one will wait for a while.
Great pieces are out there if you have the patience to wait for them.
